We organize and interpret terabytes of data to provide solutions for our merchants and stakeholders across the organization. From designing and developing intelligent recommendation and personalization tools to adopting existing machine learning toolsets and decision support, our Machine Learning Engineer at LimeSpot is a key and diverse role with many opportunities to positively impact our success.

We are looking for a Machine Learning engineer to help us better understand our merchants and buyers so we can help them on their journey. To success in this role, as a Machine Learning engineer you use analytics, experimentation, and predictive modeling to turn the large amount of data we collect into measurable business impact. You need a fine eye for detail, experience as a Machine learning engineer, and a deep understanding of the popular data analysis tools and databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Become an integral contributor to the custom designed recommendation, personalization and segmentation algorithms  
  • Maintain and improve the existing toolsets, add new features, build new tools and introduce new integrations that would help with our data engineering and machine learning initiatives. 
  • Perform large-scale data analysis and develop effective statistical models for segmentation, classification, optimization, etc. 
  • Work with stakeholders - from business and product - to understand requirements and convert them into analytical solutions 
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data, identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations and influence the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to cross-functional groups 
  • Influence leadership to drive more data-informed decisions 
  • Define and advance best practices within the Machine learning team 
  • Be part of - and potentially drive/own - some exciting big picture/big deal technical directions and organizational initiatives 


  • 3-5 years industry experience as Machine Learning engineer solving machine learning and big data problems. 
  • Strong sense of ownership. 
  • Strong background in machine learning, data mining and data analysis techniques for highly large-scale applications.   
  • Strong knowledge in statistical, mathematical and modeling methods   
  • Extensive experience with Python and software engineering fundamentals 
  • Experience with C# similar programming languages.   
  • Experience with SQL or relational databases 
  • Ability to design and interpret experiments (such as A/B testing…) 
  • Communicating ideas effectively both verbally and in writing.   
  • Experience with agile processes, with a focus on delivering production-ready testable code in small iterations.  
  • Curiosity and passion to constantly learn new things; LimeSpot is changing fast, and we need the people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too. 
  • Experience of working with Git or other modern source control paradigms (we use Git + GitHub) 
  • Well organized and self-motivated 
  • Enjoyment of the company of other human beings from time to time 
  • Must be a resident of Canada and eligible to work in Canada 

Some nice to haves (Seriously, they’re "nice to haves", not hard requirements!): 

  • An engaging smile 😊 
  • Experience with Elasticsearch database 
  • Experience launching productionized machine learning models at scale 
  • Domain experience in e-commerce, marketing or SaaS  
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures and distributed systems

We currently welcome candidates throughout Canada. Our engineering team is predominantly located on the west coast so while we’re open to candidates in multiple time zones and will honor their working hours, individuals in other time zones will be expected to periodically be available PT hours.
